Volunteer: Carol
Length of time volunteering at Jirrahlinga: 15 months.
Volunteer Role: Aviary Birds and wherever else she is needed!
Why Carol volunteers with us: Carol has her own wildlife shelter that she has run for 40 years. She finds volunteering at Jirrahlinga helps with her knowledge and it gives her experience with different animals. Carol says that once she saw how well the Sanctuary was run, she wanted to be a part of the team. She says the Jirrahlinga team are good fun, great people, and she loves being part of a team providing top quality care to awesome animals. She loves being in the enclosures with the animals and birds, and having the experience of being up close and personal and experiencing their unique personalities. She loves that Jirrahlinga provides such excellent education to the public.
What Carol want you to know about being a volunteer at Jirrahlinga: That it’s a great place to volunteer, you learn so much and the team are great. Also, that you don’t have to have any experience as the team will teach you everything you need to know and support you at all times.
What do Carol’s fellow workers have to say about her:
– Carol is excellent. She is so enthusiastic and a really hard worker.
– Carol is clearly passionate about animals.
– Carol is really friendly and is very good at teaching others.
– Carol is very helpful and we are so happy when we see her walk through the door each Monday.
– Carol also makes herself available to assist the team if they are short on staff.
What is something interesting or fun we should know about Carol:
– Carol can fly a helicopter! WOW!
