Sensory Experience Centre

One thing you may have realised by now is that Jirrahlinga has never been just about animals.
There has always been a commitment to support people with disabilities and young people who have been socially disadvantaged. Tehree & Hamish Gordon's whole philosophy is based around caring for animals or people in need.

The idea behind the planned Sensory Experience Centre is for a special place where all people could enhance their sensory experiences.
A garden will be established to bring surprises along the way, with a variety of perfumes and textures to touch and feel in the broadest sense.

A place with differing sounds through water features or sounds created when wind blows through plants such as bamboo, where pathways with a range of surfaces enabled walkers to experience the differences all leading to a pavilion that provides opportunities to feel, smell and hear animals that are housed at a level accessible to all people, whether walking or in a wheelchair.
The pavilion will be a flexible place that will provide educational and training facilities as well as allowing interaction with animals to enhance all sensory experiences.
